If you've ever tried patting your head while rubbing your stomach, you might have a small taste of what my daily life feels like. But instead of just two things at once, I'm spinning brushes, microphones, maracas, and a laptop (sometimes all in the same hour). As I build my new website both an exciting and hair-pulling endeavor I realize just how deeply intertwined painting has become in my daily routine. Amidst the music, teaching, and performing, my art has carved out its own sacred space, becoming both my meditation and my challenge.
I've always been a creative juggler. By early morning, I'm singing and dancing with tiny humans, at various locations throughout Monmouth and Middlesex Countys in NJ, planting the seeds of musicality in their curious little minds. By afternoon, I'm entertaining seniors, guiding them through joyful reminiscences with songs that transport them back to their youth and providing fun fitness classes. And somewhere in between, I'm applying acrylics, pastels, collage and sometimes gold leaf onto canvas, losing myself in color and texture. Art, in all its forms, is what connects us it's a language that doesn't fade with memory loss, that bridges generations, and that, quite honestly, keeps me sane.
Let's be real: building a website is not for the faint of heart. You think you're just uploading some paintings and adding a bio, and suddenly you're in the middle of a formatting battle, your images are rebelling, and you've lost an hour trying to decide whether expressive or lyrical is the right word to describe your latest series. (Spoiler alert: it's both.) But even with the digital frustrations, I'm having a blast, because this process reminds me just how much I love what I do.
The creative arts are essential not just for those of us who live and breathe them, but for everyone. Whether it's a child discovering the joy of rhythm, a senior lighting up at the sound of a familiar melody, or a viewer getting lost in the layers of a painting, creativity is what makes life richer, more meaningful. It's how we tell our stories, how we connect, and how we stay vibrant no matter our age.
So, as I continue juggling my brushes, songs, and storytelling, I invite you to explore my ever-evolving world. Whether you're here for the music, the art, or just to see how long I can keep all these creative balls in the air, I'm glad you stopped by. Now, back to the paintbrush before it dries mid-stroke!
The website is looking good!!
